There are two opportunities for scholarship support available to Gunston Soccer Club members...The Department of Community & Recreation Services (CRS) Youth Sport Scholarship Program for Fairfax County, and the Jerry Shiplett Scholarship Fund.

It is the intent of Gunston Athletic Institute (GAI) to allow as many children as possible the opportunity to play soccer. Through the generous donations to the Jerry Shiplett Scholarship Fund, GAI sets aside $1500 per season to provide a limited number of scholarships for registration fees or equipment vouchers to players on a needs basis. In order to fairly disburse these scholarships, the information on this form must be completed. In addition, applicants must meet the financial aid verification required by The Department of Community & Recreation Services (CRS) Youth Sport Scholarship Program for Fairfax County.

Players must previously have applied for County Scholarships before applying for a GAI Scholarship. GAI will evaluate all applicants for eligibility and divide the scholarships equally amongst the applicants with $200 being the maximum that can be requested per season. GAI scholarships will be given in conjunction with County Scholarships and will not exceed the maximum registration or equipment need of any player.

GSC Jerry Shiplett Scholarship applications must be delivered or postmarked to Nancy Smith, 1000 Priscilla Lane, Alexandria, VA 22308 by Oct. 15th for the Fall Season and April 15th for the Spring Season.

CRS scholarship applications must be delivered or postmarked by October 30th for the Fall Season, January 29th for the Winter Season and April 20th for the Spring Season. Late applications will not be accepted after the deadline. You will be notified of the status of your scholarship request within 4-6 weeks following the closure of the application deadline.
